Project Outline:
Project aims: to develop a set of activities, each related to key topics in A-level chemistry specifications, which use the CCDC's freely accessible WebCSD teaching subset platform, which could each stand alone as either A-level self-study or learning support activities and/or University chemistry outreach sessions and to produce the associated student instruction sheets and software/website help guides.
Skills/methodology: literature/web/A-level specification searches of likely activities and familiarisation with the relevant theory; discussions with appropriate School of Chemistry staff/postgraduates; a whole day visit to the CCDC (in Cambridge) (which will involve an overnight stay) and ongoing liaison re. developing the activities; familiarisation sessions with WebCSD and other related software; production of instruction sheets, help sheets and related paperwork; preparation of final project report and summary poster. No knowledge of computer programming etc. required – the activities will be developed using a freely accessible website, WebCSD, for which full training and ongoing support will be provided.
Start Date: 30th July 2012
Requirements: Must be studying A-level Chemistry and preferably interested in studying Chemistry or a related discipline at University (but not Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy or Veterinary Science, etc).
