Whitburn Comprehensive will be holding a Science and Technology Day on December 11th for year 7 students. Ambassadors from Nissan have already volunteered to give talks on the day but more SEAs are welcome.

Groups of students will learn about the science involved in design and production. They will then demonstrate their new knowledge by working in groups to produce a model vehicle. The completed projects will compete against each other with prizes for the best design, moving the furthest, safely transporting an egg etc.

Schools can apply for grants of up to £500 to hold an event for National Science and Engineering Week. Applications must be received by 28 November 2008.

Schools who register to organise an event for NSEW will be entered into a free prize draw. There are many prizes to be won including free science equipment, science activity books and science shows.

Information sessions are occurring across the country to provide school teachers with inspiration and ideas for events. There will also be demonstrations of science activities and talks from past organisers. The BA will be producing challenge packs filled with CREST star and superstar activities.
