CREST Awards

The British Science Association CREST Awards offer students the chance to expand their experience and understanding of STEM subjects and the career opportunities offered by STEM study. These unique schemes motivate students raising their level of achievement. Other benefits include:

  • Helping students develop problem solving, practical and thinking skills
  • Developing students presentation and communication skills and encouraging teamwork
  • Motivating students and allowing them to explore their own ideas and interests within STEM subjects
  • Helping to bridge the gap between the classroom and real-world science and engineering careers
  • Preparing students for 'How Science Works' at GCSE
  • Possible involvement in regional and national events

To get your students started on their CREST Awards simply download and fill out the relevant registration form below and return it to Newcastle College STEM Outreach. If you need any help just email us at stempoint@ncl-coll.ac.uk

Bronze CREST Award

The bronze CREST Award is typically for students aged 11 to 14 years and includes about 10 hours of project work.

Silver CREST Award

The Silver CREST Awards are aimed at 14 to 16 year old students and should take about 40 hours of project work.

Gold CREST Award

The Gold CREST Awards are for students in 16+ education and typically involve around 100 hours of project work. Gold Awards are currently offered by Newcastle College STEM Outreach combined with the Nuffield Foundation Bursary scheme. See our Nuffield Bursaries Section for more.
