Chromosomes & DNA

Summary:
What are chromosomes? What is DNA? Where do we find them and how can we see them? Students extract DNA from kiwi fruit and examine garlic chromosomes.

What are chromosomes? What is DNA? Where do we find them and how can we see them? Many students arrive at university to study biology without having seen the fundamental building blocks of Life. In this practical session, students prepare DNA from kiwi fruit and chromosomes from garlic root-tips.
