About Us

STEM Outreach are the regional coordinators of the STEM Advisory Network and STEM Ambassadors scheme in Northumberland and Tyne and Wear. We act as the central hub for STEM enhancement and enrichment in the North East. We provide teachers, schools, colleges and young people with easy access to an extensive and balanced range of STEM curriculum enrichment opportunities. These activities are designed to:

• Encourage young people to pursue STEM subjects by enthusing them about the value and opportunities they offer.
• Help young people find out about what STEM careers in are really like through contact with our STEM Ambassadors.
• Give students valuable experiences by helping to arrange industrial visits, work experience placements and student involvement in work related schemes and events.
• Have a positive influence on pupils' attainment in STEM subjects.
• Address the under-representation of various groups in STEM and encourage young people to raise their aspirations.
